Unveiling the Liberty Project

Unveiling the Liberty Project
By
James Scott Trimm

Many of us in the Tea Party movement felt disenfranchised when it was announced that Donald Trump would be the presumptive party nominee for president.  Insult was added to injury when many “Tea Party” leaders and groups seemed to instantly abandon their values and begin pushing Donald Trump on us.

Trump is an unacceptable choice to a true Constitutionalist because Trump has disregard for our Constitutional values.  When Trump says that he wants to make America great again (a slogan he stole from the Reagan campaign), he does not mean the same thing Ronald Reagan meant. Trump only speaks about America regaining its military and economic might. But these are not the things that truly made America great, and Ronald Reagan knew that. The things that made America great were our principles of limited government, personal freedom and faith based family values. When Trump speaks, I never hear him speak of downsizing government, to the contrary he speaks often of expanding federal powers. I never hear him speak about personal freedom, which always contracts when government expands. Trump has said that he believes three of the four most important roles of the Federal Government are education, healthcare and housing, none of which are delegated powers of the Federal Government in the Constitution which plainly states that all powers not delegated to the Federal Government are retained by the states and the people. To the contrary Trump talks of “getting rid of the lines around the states” (his words).   This is sadly Trump’s mission… to restore the glory and power of America… not our Constitutional and faith based values, not our principles of more freedom and less government, but only our economic and military might. Without our values, that military and economic might is only a danger to us all. Without those values we are left only with a Powerful Federal Leviathan!

It is time for a new approach! I am creating Liberty Project Tarrant, Liberty Project Texas, and Liberty Project USA as non-partisan political organizations that embrace more freedom, less government and Judeo-Christian values and which transcend party lines.  We are shaking free the bonds of two party thinking that has gotten us into this mess. It is time to become trans-partisan by transcending party labels.  Conservative Republicans and Libertarians can and should join forces against authoritarians like Trump and Hilary.

Many of the Tea Party groups are bound by By-Laws which they themselves created, that require them to embrace “the traditional two party system” and which now leave them supporting Trump and not even considering that there are better options.

This is a fundamental logic error known as "false dichotomy" or "false dilemma".  This is a logic error that involves a situation in which only limited alternatives are considered, when in fact there is at least one additional option.

And there are better options. For example if the Libertarians nominate Austin Petersen there will be a Pro-Life Constitutionalist on the ballot in all fifty states and is the natural choice for those who espouse what are supposed to be “Tea Party” values.

Likewise here in Tarrant County this same two-party by-laws have hindered  a challenge of Liberal RINO Charlie Geren in Texas House District 99 by a Pro-Life Constitutionalist Conservative Libertarian, Dan Hawkins, who is running against him (and with no Democrat running, there is no danger of splitting the vote.)

Pages and groups for Liberty Project Texas and Liberty Project USA will be coming soon as well as websites.

Liberty Project supports:

Less government and more freedom, when government expands, freedom always contracts.

Fiscal responsibility, limited government should live within its means.

Strict Interpretation of the Constitution, the Constitution says what it says, and it does not say what it does not say.

Defending our inalienable and Constitutional rights as laid out in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, including, but not limited to the Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Religion, the Right to Bear Arms, the Right to Own Property and the Right to Life for all persons, born or unborn.

Securing our nation without violating our inalienable or Constitutional rights.  If we exchange freedom for security we shall find that we no longer have either one.

Maintaining division between the three branches of government.

Restoring State Sovereignty and limiting the Federal Government to is delegated powers only.

Maintaining our Judeo-Christian values as a nation while also maintaining the Freedom of Religion of all peoples.
